Why is my information being requested?

Each year, the University of Virginia and individual schools (like McIntire) request destination information from the current students.  This information is required for mandatory accreditation reporting, as well as for collegiate rankings and internal analysis to support programming and resources.  It also is crucial to maintain the University of Virginia and McIntire brands.

How is my information used?

Your information will be kept confidential, but data will be aggregated and used for mandatory reporting for accreditation, as well as for collegiate rankings and internal analysis to support programming and resources. Importantly, your future peers value this data immensely as they can reference it to explore possible career paths or leverage it to navigate salary negotiations! Each year, information is aggregated and posted for current and prospective students, parents, alumni, and employers: https://destinations.mcintire.virginia.edu

My employer said not to share my salary information. Should I still share that and other offer information with Career Services?

Yes. Typically, when employers make this statement, they do not want students sharing their individual offer information with other students. That said, sharing your offer information with the Career Services office is encouraged. Employers, students, and other stakeholders often request this aggregated data for a variety of purposes, such as being able to provide competitive offers for students.

I received multiple offers. Should I share all the offer information?

Yes. By providing information about all offers received, our office learns more about where our students are being offered positions and the industries in which they are interested. This is information leveraged by McIntire Staff and Faculty to continue to provide relevant programming and support for our current students.
